Financial Controller – Contract or Part-Time Employee (~80 hours/month)
Job Description
Union Biometrica is looking for a financial controller to work with our small, privately-held, international life-science company. Our company is a small team of scientists and engineers designing, manufacturing and selling sophisticated automated instruments used in biomedical research such as drug discovery, toxicology and genetics research. This is a part-time position that can be fully remote. The company headquarters is in the Greater Boston area.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a financial controller with experience in:
- Multi-company / Multi-currency transactions.
- Annual preparation of accounts for Tax reporting to our CPA firm.
- Quarterly VAT and commission reports.
- Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, sales tax reporting, payroll reporting and accounts, asset depreciation and contract revenue recognition.
- Sound understanding of GAAP and consolidated financial reporting.
- Degree in accounting OR a minimum 10 years of experience in accounting.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.
We are a small, manufacturing company with lots of complexities in our books that are not typically seen at this size. Our Belgium subsidiary requires a separate, European set of books and intercompany transactions. Our sales are international and require multi-currency accounting; sales are high-value but low numbers of transactions. We maintain physical inventories which get valued at standard costs. We have fixed assets that we depreciate monthly; multi-year service and rental contracts which require monthly revenue recognition. Our accounting tracks transactions eligible for R&D credits and other small-business tax programs.
