Union Biometrica, Inc. to exhibit at the XXVIII Congress of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (CYTO 2013) in San Diego, CA
Join us for a Workshop:
Title: Flow Cytometry for Large Delicate Cells, Cell Clusters, Encapsulated Cells, and Small Model Organisms
Topic: The BioSorter ® flow cytometer is designed to provide the flexibility for working with samples ranging in sizes from 1 to 1500 microns. This very broad range of sizes includes many interesting types of cells, cell clusters and even whole organisms. We present some new applications of the BioSorter, including the use of large delicate cells such as adipocytes and plant protoplasts, cell clusters such as mammalian neurospheres, plant calli and fungal pellets, and cells encapsulated within hydrogel particles. These samples can be analyzed and dispensed intact owing to the low sample pressures, low shear forces and the gentle sorting mechanism. Union Biometrica has developed an autosampler, LP Sampler™ that automatically loads samples from multiwall plates to the BioSorter for analysis and resorting, and also the VAST BioImager, a simplified flow-based platform for image acquisition and analysis. Union Biometrica continues to develop research tools for large particle analysis.
Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2013
Time: 12:15-13:15
Room: 32AB
Additional information regarding the meeting is available at: http://cytoconference.org/cyto/2013/Home.aspx
VAST BioImager for zebrafish -- Replacing the tedium of manual sample positioning, the VAST BioImager automatically loads each larva into a capillary, positions it laterally, and then rotates it in the field of view of the on-board camera for organ level imaging. Alternately the VAST can be mounted on a high resolution upright microscope for high content bright field or fluorescent imaging at the cellular level. Large Particle Flow Cytometry for Gentle Sorting of Model Organisms --Union Biometrica offers tools for high throughput research of model organism such as C.elegans, Drosophila embryos and larvae, early stages of zebrafish, sea urchin embryos, Xenopus eggs and embryos, Daphnia, various marine larvae and zooplankton. We provide Large Particle Flow Cytometers (COPAS™ and BioSorter®) for objects that are too large / too fragile for traditional cytometers and offer an alternative to manual sorting. These systems analyze and sort objects based on size and fluorescent parameters. Automating this process offers increased speed, sensitivity, quantification, and repeatability of experiments.
Peer reviewed journal papers referencing the sorting of model organisms using our COPAS and BioSorter instruments can be viewed using the links below.
